Eid e shoma mobarak.
(aid- ay- sho-maw mo-barack) That means happy new year, in Farsi. That’s the Persian language (or at least the most common one). Nowruz means New Day. It is a 13 day celebration starting on the first day of spring. It’s celebrated in several places, but many Persian people come from Iran (including Katrina’s dad), so that is where we draw our primary influence. This is Josh’s take on Persian cuisine, that he has developed over 12 years (as of 2026) of serving a Nowruz menu.
Ask Katrina about our haft sin (the table that welcomes family and friends into Persian homes with symbols of hope and blessings for the new year) and taarof (the Persian custom of extreme hospitality.)
